Signs You Need Your Wisdom Teeth Removed

Wisdom teeth are a pair of two molars which generally grows between the age of 18-25. When you get a wisdom tooth, it is usually accompanied with pain and in some cases, it can cause sinus problems and infections too! As a result, you may have to get your wisdom teeth removed. Here’s a list of wisdom tooth problems which indicate that you may have to remove it in order to prevent future dental complications.

Shifts Teeth

Wisdom teeth make their way in your mouth after the age of 18. However, by the age of 18, your gums are already crowded! The wisdom teeth erupt from the gum, it pushed aside enrooted teeth to make a place for itself. Hence, it disturbs the alignment of all your existing teeth. So, if your teeth are misaligned, then you may have to consider getting your wisdom tooth extracted.

Inflamed Gums

In certain cases, wisdom teeth sprouting can create a flap of extra gum tissue which resides next to the tooth. Particles of food and bacteria get trap in the tissue. This tissue can become infected and inflamed over time because it is difficult to clean. This is called pericoronitis and can occur around wisdom teeth that are still yet to erupt.

Cysts In Your Mouth

If wisdom tooth problems are ignored, they can cause a cyst. This is a sac of fluid that gets accumulated and will infect the area nearby. As a result, it will damage the roots of your nearby teeth. Removing the wisdom tooth and professional dental care can help you get rid of cyst problems.

Cavities

When a wisdom tooth erupts, it may create gaps between your teeth. These gaps and spaces between your teeth cannot be easily cleaned while brushing. They have the potential to collect food and bacteria, which eventually can cause cavities in your teeth.

Sinus Issues

Problems with wisdom teeth may lead to sinus pain, congestion, and pressure, especially in the upper jaw area. The growth of teeth and development of its roots can push against the sinuses located right above and behind. Due to this pressure, it can cause headaches and sinus pain.

Eating Difficulty

You may experience pain while eating and so you may have to consider getting your tooth extracted. Also, the misalignment due to your wisdom teeth can affect your bite in the future. Therefore, it is best recommended that you get your wisdom tooth removed before you face any consequences.

Wisdom tooth problems can certainly affect your oral health. So, if you face any such difficulty when your wisdom teeth erupt, then visit a dentist to determine whether your tooth needs to be extracted or not. Moreover, a dentist will be able to help you overcome any dental problems associated with your wisdom teeth and maintain a good oral health.
