Root Canal

A root canal is a treatment that is used to protect a decayed or infected tooth. The procedure involves the removal of the nerve and pulp, after which the insides of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. We understand that people often get scared of the term ‘root canal’, but it is nothing to be afraid of. We at College Plaza Dental make use of advanced dental technology that allows us to perform the procedure without any difficulty and also ensure proper pain medication after the treatment.

Signs That You Need a Root Canal

Our dentists would suggest a root canal for you for the following reasons:

1. Serious Teeth and Gum Pain

Do you constantly feel a throbbing pain in your gums? When your tooth canal and the nerve pulp decay, it causes an intense pain through your nerves. If you feel an intense pain in your dental pain, see a dentist immediately to save your tooth, root nerve and pulp.

2. Reappearing and Consistent Gum Boils

Gum boils are very painful. Some of the symptoms that indicate gum boils are redness in mouth and face, bad odour, swollen glands or pain in mouth while chewing hot or cold food items. Our dentists would recommend you to get a proper check up if you experience any of the above mentioned symptoms.

3. Darkening of Teeth

Is there a visible change in your teeth colour? Are they darkening? Tooth discolouration often indicates that the tooth is deteriorating from within. We would recommend you to consult your dentist for a root canal therapy.

Our Root Canal Procedure

When you visit College Plaza Dental, our dentists will initially examine your teeth and if after critical analysis we find out that you may need a root canal, we will take X-rays of your mouth to know the exact location of the decay. After taking the X-rays, we will administer local anesthesia to the affected tooth that is followed by pulpectomy. During the procedure, all of the material in the affected tooth pulp is removed.

Finally, we fill the opened roots with gutta-percha material and finally we seal the exposed area with cement.
